„To not engage in any negative deed,
to practice virtue and to tame one’s own mind
this is the teaching of the Buddha.”
Buddha Shakyamuni
The aim we want to achieve through Buddhist practice is realisation, Buddha, the enlightened state. This is in fact nothing we have to achieve newly – it ‘merely’ is the realisation of the true nature of our mind, i.e. the perfection of insight and active compassion.
The path towards this aim is therefore a voyage of discovery into one’s own potential. In short, this path consists of positive conduct, meditation and wisdom. It is essential to “combine heart and knowledge” which means that we should learn and comprehend the teachings of the Buddha and finally integrate them into our own stream of being to such an extent that they can be used in every situation and thus enable the practitioner to lead a truly meaningful life.
